Dr. Lixin Li received her Medical Degree from Southeast University Medical School, China. She obtained her PhD degree from Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She completed her Postdoctoral training in the department of Physiology, University of Toronto. Her research interests have been focused on the underlying mechanism of pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes with a specific focus on β-cell dysfunction as well as the molecular mechanism of obesity associated insulin resistance.

Her major research interest also include the proglucagon-derived peptides, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and its role in regulating growth and function of the beta-cell. Her current research is studying the potential protective role of GLP-1 against diet induced metabolic syndrome and its underlying physiological and molecular mechanisms

Dr Beysel was graduated as Medical Doctor from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine (English group) in 2004. She completed her specialist İnternal Medicine at the Department of İnternal Medicine, Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2010. She completed her specialist Endocrinologist training at the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Ankara Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Teaching and Research Hospital in 2015. She is training in Medical Biology PhD Training Program at the Department of Medical Biology, Başkent University from 2016 to current.
